GM STC requirements:

This program receives support from the Southeast Regional GM Training Center Headquarters in Alpharetta, Georgia. It is the position of the Southeast Regional Training Manager that this program will aid the local dealerships in obtaining the required GM Common Training standards in a more timely and financially sound manner. GM STC requires that the GM ASEP instructor most qualified at Wayne Community College perform the GM STC Hands-On class. The instructor must be current with the GM Common Training Standards as per the requirements of the IAGMASEP Standards Committee. In addition, the instructor appointed to facilitate the GM STC Hands-On class must attend the given Hands-On class at the Regional Training Center in order to receive necessary instructor training. GM STC Staff will determine if Wayne Community College GM ASEP is capable of performing the GM-Hands on class prior to the class.

The Club can formally make a request at the Atlantic Service Manager Club meetings in which a representative of Wayne Community College is in attendance. The GM Training Coordinator will work with the SE Regional GM representatives to satisfy the needs of the Dealer Club. It is the position of Wayne Community College to further grow this program as needed to meet the needs of the GM Dealers. Scheduling of classes will be based solely on feed-back from the Atlantic Service Managers Club and their GM Common Training accomplishments.

Additional Non-certification courses:

Non-Certification courses will be provided by Wayne Community College GM ASEP for the Atlantic Service Managers Club at the request of The Club members. Wayne Community College will coordinate the facilitation of these courses in order to maintain any GM prerequisites that the dealers feel that the existing training methods do not satisfy. Wayne Community College GM ASEP feels that this form of training can be a very successful method of keeping existing technicians updated with the most current technology. Cost for these courses will be based on the current Continuing Ed fee.

Dealer interest/enrollment procedures for Hands-On courses:

Any GM Dealership interested in this program, scheduling attendance in a Hands-On course, or needing technician training information should contact his or her DSM or the Steering Committee found within the GM Service Manager Club. Wayne Community College will notify the GM Service Manager Club when a date is open for a given class. Wayne Community College will schedule as far ahead as possible but all dates are tentative due to scheduling conflicts not anticipated. The DSMs for this area and/or the steering committee will notify the GM Training Coordinator at Wayne Community College when a list of technicians eligible for a class is compiled. The GM Training Coordinator will then send one "Course Enrollment Notification" (see attached) to the dealer service Manager via fax or e-mail. Prior to the date of the class, the GM Training Coordinator will send one "GM Dealer Technician Enrollment Reminder" (see attached) via fax or e-mail. The correct e-mail address and fax number supplied to Wayne Community College is the responsibility of the dealer enrolling in the course.
